Alessia Cara
The singer released her debut single Here in 2015 when she was aged 19. It quickly became a hit, and both critics and the fans were awed by the song. The track reached the top 19 of both the Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and also on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the track one of the Top Songs in 2015. That same year, she debuted her album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts, including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Based on an interview she gave in conjunction with Rap Up, the song had a lot of meaning for many people listening who were drawn to her story about learning to accept and love yourself. Cara is famous for including the themes of mental health and love and self-love into her music. The music she sings is reflective of her personal struggle with insomnia and mental health. Reuters said that she described the album "half tumultuous, half perfected". She found that therapy made her stronger and she encourages people to try it too. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. Alessia Cara's parents bought her an instrument when she was 10. It was the beginning of her journey with music. She started covering her favorite songs when she was 13, to prove to the world she could sing and had the determination required to be an artist. Sweater Weather is among these covers which led to her being noticed to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create the songs she wrote herself.
