Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 albums. DiFranco's music is categorized as folk rock as well as alternative rock, but it has additional influences from hip hop, punk and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement. She was one of the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. DiFranco is the son of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent and her mother came from Montreal. 32 Flavors was written with and performed by Ani DiFranco. This song was released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. The track is in the soundtrack to the Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized for arranging a conference in Louisiana on an old slave plantation. While she had to cancel the workshop however, a lot of people (including our own paper) didn't feel any apology. DiFranco issued a new apology within a few days of the first. She is known for her Little Folksinger music, but she's worked with many artists as well as genres ranging that range from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. She is a resident of New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives in New Orleans with Kristen Ford. The singer began writing songs around the age of 14. She performed them in bars and in coffee shops all through her teens. DiFranco graduated from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts high school when she was 16 and started attending classes at Buffalo State College. The baritone Ani purchased was a custom Alvarez guitar, designed by Chrys Johnston who at the time was working as the Alvarez artist rep. The instrument is constructed from solid hardwoods. It includes a cedar top with mahogany sides and the back. Additionally, it comes with the System 600 Preamp.
